HELLO AUCKLAND AND ONE OF THE MOST BEAUTIFUL COUNTRIES IN THE WORLD
i met ralph in stockholm summer 2010. now i meet him again 6 months later, for kiwi summer 2011.
hey ralph where did u get ur bike from (u told me this story but i dont remember exactly - only that it was a good one!) My brother found it on the street outside our house. I recently started a new job and needed a bike to ride to work. One weekend I cleaned it up, spent $60 on parts and now it works like a dream!
ah how awesome is that. best hoods to ride in auckland? devonport and mission bay are great. easy access to the city and offer good stop-offs like beaches and cafes.
how far is it to bike door to door to your work compared to with a car? (include finding parking spot + walk from there) it’s actually faster! I take the side streets and arrive door-to-door in 10 minutes. it would be maybe 15 minutes in commuter traffic.
i’m not surprised, bicycles totally rule. what about the helmet law in NZ? if cyclists are caught without a helmet there’s a $50 fine or warning. unfortunately cars dominate the roads in auckland so cyclists often get overlooked (which must change!) the chances of getting knocked off by an idiot motorist is much higher than in an average european city. i think the helmet rule is fair enough.
…and finally, the best about bicycling in auckland? the cycle infrastructure is improving and more punters are putting the fun between their legs!
